Common questions
My steps are not showing up
Five Foot Way reads your step count from Apple Health. Open the Settings app, go to Health → Data Access & Devices → Five Foot Way, and turn on Steps. Then check Settings → Privacy & Security → Motion & Fitness and make sure Five Foot Way is allowed, so the city can grow while you walk.
Why don't steps I type into the Health app count?
Only steps your iPhone or a connected device actually counted will build. Steps entered by hand are ignored, and no single hour can count more steps than a person could walk in it.
The widget is behind the app
iOS decides how often widgets refresh, and Apple Health shares new steps only every so often while your phone is locked. Opening Five Foot Way brings the widget up to date straight away.
Does my city back up, or move to a new iPhone?
Your city is stored only on your iPhone. There is no account and nothing is uploaded, so deleting the app deletes the city. An iPhone backup or a transfer to a new iPhone brings it with you.
Does the app cost anything?
No. Five Foot Way is free, with no ads and nothing to buy.
What happens to my health data?
It never leaves your iPhone. The app has no analytics, no tracking and no internet connection for your data. Read the full privacy policy.
