Five Foot Way
Privacy Policy
Effective 22 September 2026
In short: Five Foot Way turns your steps into a city on your iPhone, and everything it knows about you stays on your iPhone. The app has no account, no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and it does not connect to the internet. The developer never receives any of your data.
Who we are
Five Foot Way is an iPhone game made by Yeong Jie Khoo (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what information the app uses, why, and where it is kept.
What the app uses, and why
- Step count from Apple Health. With your permission, the app reads your daily step count from Apple Health. Your steps are what build the city. It reads step count only. It does not read any other health data and never writes anything to Apple Health.
- Motion & Fitness. With your permission, the app uses your iPhone’s step counter to show steps as you walk, before Apple Health has recorded them.
- Your city. Your buildings, residents, progress, recent daily step totals (used to pace building to your own usual day) and settings are saved on your iPhone.
- Your answers to “did that feel good?”. For your first 14 days, the app may occasionally ask how watching your city grow felt. Your answers are saved with your city on your iPhone and are never sent anywhere.
- Notifications. If you allow them, the app shows notifications when a building reaches a new stage. They are scheduled on your iPhone and never sent from a server.
- Photos. If you choose to save a picture or video of your city, the app asks for permission to add it to your photo library. It can only add; it cannot see or read your photos.
- Home Screen widget. The widget shows today’s steps and the building under way. The app shares this with its widget through storage on your iPhone.
Where your data is kept
Everything above is stored only on your iPhone. The app has no servers and makes no network connections, so nothing is uploaded to us or anyone else. If you use iCloud Backup or back up your iPhone to a computer, your city is included in that backup the same way other apps’ data is; Apple handles those backups under your settings and its own privacy policy.
What we never do
- We do not collect, receive, sell or share any of your data.
- We do not use your health data for advertising, marketing or data mining, and do not disclose it to anyone.
- We do not track you across apps or websites, and the app contains no advertising or analytics code.
- We do not ask for your name, email, location or contacts.
Sharing, when you choose to
You can share pictures and videos of your city using the iPhone share sheet. Nothing is shared unless you do it, and what happens next is up to you and the app or person you share with.
Your choices
- Change permissions at any time. For health data: Settings › Health › Data Access & Devices › Five Foot Way. For motion, notifications and photos: Settings › Five Foot Way.
- Delete your data. Deleting the app removes your city and everything it saved from your iPhone. Your step history in Apple Health is not affected.
Children
Five Foot Way is not directed at children under 13, and it does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, of any age.
Changes to this policy
If the way the app handles information changes, for example if a future version adds an online feature, we will update this page and its effective date before that version is released.
