If you're reporting a problem, it helps enormously to include your device model, your iOS version, and what you were doing when it happened.

Getting started

How does PlaySprout work?

PlaySprout plays a short musical phrase and you work out how to play it back. Each level teaches a different skill, from single-hand melodies up to voiced melody with a real left hand. You never need to read music to begin.

Do I need a piano or keyboard?

No. You can train your ear with PlaySprout on its own, and the app never listens to you play. A real instrument to practise on alongside it will make the training far more useful, but nothing needs to be connected to the app.

I can't hear anything

Work through these in order:

  1. Check the ring/silent switch on the side of your iPhone.
  2. Turn the volume up with the physical buttons while the app is open.
  3. If you have Bluetooth headphones or a speaker paired, check the audio is not being sent somewhere else.
  4. Close the app fully (swipe it away from the app switcher) and reopen it.

Levels and PlaySprout Pro

What's free?

Levels 1 to 3 are free and always will be. They cover a complete course on their own — one hand, then chord changes, then both hands over a bass root. That is months of genuine practice before the gate ever matters.

What does Pro unlock?

Levels 4, 5, and 6 — the levels where the left hand starts doing real work: block triads, accompaniment patterns, and voiced melody with added colour in all keys.

Which plan should I pick?

Monthly and yearly are subscriptions that renew until you cancel. The lifetime unlock is a single payment with nothing to renew. The yearly plan starts with a one-week free trial for new subscribers.

Purchases

I bought Pro but the levels are still locked

Open the Pro screen and tap Restore Purchases. This asks Apple directly what your Apple Account has bought. Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple Account you used to buy it — a different account won't find the purchase.

I got a new phone

Your purchase follows your Apple Account, not your device. Install PlaySprout, open the Pro screen, and tap Restore Purchases. There's no charge for this.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed by Apple, not by us, so cancelling happens in iOS:

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Tap your name at the very top.
  3. Tap Subscriptions.
  4. Choose PlaySprout, then Cancel Subscription.

You keep Pro access until the end of the period you've already paid for. Cancelling during a free trial stops any charge, as long as you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends.

I'd like a refund

Refunds are handled by Apple rather than by us — we have no ability to issue them. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com using the Apple Account that made the purchase. Do write to us as well if something in the app went wrong; we'd like the chance to fix it.

Privacy

PlaySprout collects nothing. It has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no servers of our own, and it does not use your microphone. The full details are in our Privacy Policy.

Still stuck?

Email parcelwish@gmail.com. Feature requests are genuinely welcome too — a lot of what's in the app arrived that way.
